Sunday – Main Club Long Run
WHEN: Sunday – 6:00 am (summer months)
WHERE: Car park on the opposite side of the Novotel Hotel at Dubai World Trade Centre
DUBAI CREEK STRIDERS – DUBAI’S LARGEST AND FASTEST GROWING RUNNING CLUB WELCOMES ALL TO JOIN US REGARDLESS OF RACE, NATIONALITY OR RUNNING ABILITY. ALL WE ASK IS THAT YOU CAN RUN 10K WITHOUT STOPPING AT ANY PACE YOU WISH.
Our groups run on Sunday mornings and we have various pace groups to cater for all abilities from competitive athletes to social runners looking to keep fit and enjoy their exercise. The aim is for everyone to feel part of the club and most importantly enjoy running. Each Sunday at 6 am (times may change during the year – keep updated weekly on our web site or sign up for our Weekly Newsletter), the Dubai Creek Striders meet in the car park on the opposite side of the road to the Novotel Hotel at Dubai World Trade Centre area (exhibition area).
The club has over 800 members in total and we have up to 200 runners joining each Sunday. Why not join us and become part of a great team and train to meet your goals whatever they may be. After an initial safety briefing, the runners split into various pace groups. Each group is led by a pace leader whose job is to keep the group on pace and also ensure an appropriate distance is covered for the week. We encourage new members to start with a group slower than they think they can keep up for the first week. Its more encouraging to move to a faster group the following week if they see fit.
We welcome newcomers of all abilities because completing the entire Sunday run is not mandatory as one can easily jump into a taxi at any stage of the run. Just make sure you tell the group leader you are leaving. A useful tip when you do jump into a taxi is to place the foot mat on the seat of the cab before you sit inside so as to not unnecessarily ‘wet’ the seat due to any perspiration you may be experiencing. It will keep the taxi drivers happy and keep the reputation of our club as caring.
Depending on the time of year there might be runners leaving even earlier to get a few additional K in before the official start. Again, details will be posted in on our Facebook page and Weekly Newsletter.
AED 10 will be collected from each runner to pay for drinks during the run at shops and petrol stations.
Join the Striders and subscribe to our emails to receive more details about our training runs.
Good luck and we look forward to welcoming you to our Sunday Runs.
By the way, we run all year round, expect two Sundays which is the Johnson Arabia DCS Half Marathon in December and The Dubai Marathon in January.
